Pig Fest Moves to May 5

Peter Gambacorta, Pig Fest organizer and chair, announced that that next year’s Pig Fest has been moved to May 5. The original date of February 25 was in conflict with the start of lent which comes early this year. St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church told the Morning Club that they could hold the event on the grass but that they needed the parking lot for their annual Fish Fry event.
Peter spoke with the grounds keeper who informed him that the grassy areas following a rain remain wet and muddy for several days as the drainage is poor. The decision was made to postpone the event.
Our club will be doing the car show with more than 100 entries expected it will be the largest show seen in this area. One entire end of the parking lot will be reserved for the cars alongside the vendor tents.
The participating clubs will share in the profits based on the percentage of tickets and sponsorships sold. Tickets are limited to 2000 and include a meal. “It is logistically impossible to serve more than 2000 people,” said Gambacorta. Attendance is not limited and visitors can take in the event and buy Pig Bucks without the meal.
Last year the Noon Club sold 20 percent of all tickets and collected more than $7,000. As the number of tickets are limited it is critical to sell as many tickets as possible as soon as possible in order to make the maximum amount of money. Sponsorships are unlimited and show the greatest promise for boosting our club’s numbers.
