Welcome to the Rotary Club of New Tampa
Evening
|
|
|

|
The Rotary Club of New Tampa Evening was
chartered in March of 2009 and is the newest Rotary Club in
District 6890.
Charter President Jim is proud of the fact that the club had 50
members at the time they received their charter and that 80
percent were new to Rotary.
Join us every Thursday at 6:15 PM at Hunter's Green Country Club
for fun, fellowship and Rotary information.
Dinner is optional and the view from the back of the room of the
early, evening sun over the links is breathtaking. Directions

Water Project
Generates a Flood of Interest
|
|
Other organizations and special
donors are showing an interest
|
|
The Rotary water
project started by Jose Martinez is starting to
attract interest from other individuals and
organizations. The Ybor City club is considering
a raise in their contribution and a small club
on a Caribbean Island has asked about
contributing. Personal donations continue to
flow in and paperwork for a District grant is
being prepared. Peter Gambacorta from the
Morning Club has worked with Jose from the
beginning and continues to travel around the
area giving presentations. The total needed is
$12,500 which includes a grant of $5,000.

Area Rotary Club Cooperation Grows
|
|
This week marked a new
milestone in the effort to join with other Rotary Clubs
in our area to do fundraisers and projects together. The
board of directors in a meeting held on February 4, gave
tentative approval to sharing a booth with the Noon and
Morning Clubs at this year's Taste of New Tampa. In
addition, our club will participate in the Cancer
Society's Relay for Life to take place at the end of
April. (Photo right 2009 Taste)

On March 21 our club will participate
with the Noon and Morning clubs for the Pig Roast. The
Morning Club is the principle organizer and has done the
majority of the work by securing vendors for the food,
drink and setup such as tables and chairs.
Attendance for this year’s event is projected to be
800 which will set a record and a challenge for the
venue which has hosted up to 600 in the past. A total of
8 pigs will be roasted whole. Each pig is assigned a
team from the participating clubs. To feed 800 people
requires more than the eight pigs. Leroy Selmons will
prepare the pork butts and chickens needed to provide
enough food. To round out the menu beans and coleslaw
will be served. Scott Decker will be donating pizza as a
vegetarian alternative.
Barry Shuman of the Noon Club suggested we serve hot
dogs which he can get donated to provide for the small
fry in the crowd. He suggested using our club has a
frank cooker.
Each club will receive tickets to sell at $25 each. Our
share is 250 tickets which amounts to roughly $3,900 net
to our club to use for charitable causes. In addition,
we will receive money from any sponsorships we sell at
$250 each. The ticket includes: Beer, wine and soda,
$5,000 in prizes, and an all you can eat feast.
